History of Use

The Cathedral is open to any and all who want to enter. Whether an area resident or visiting tourist impressed by the unique architecture, or a soul looking for a quiet place to pray or simply think, many have been drawn to this beacon on the hill.

In her location, architecture, and permanence the Cathedral lifts spirits and points believers and seekers alike toward the Heavenly Father. Those who enter, find a space that accomplishes what it was created to do—draw eyes up toward heaven, encourage prayer, calm the spirit, and convey a sense of sanctuary, peace, and the majesty of God.

Other organizations find the Cathedral the perfect venue for some of their traditional events. Augustana College, for example, has utilized The Cathedral for their Christmas Vespers, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and visiting artists, such as the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Notre Dame choir and others have taken advantage of the magnificent space and unique acoustics for their performances.
